“Encouraging artists to open their mind, challenge their body, and inspire thei soul.”

The House Of Jazz Artist Development Program (HOJ ADP) is a post graduate transitional program designed to prepare dance artists for a career in the theatre jazz arts. It is an enlightened approach to dance education, changing the skyline of the entertainment arts by moving young artist into greatness.

We believe the strongest artist trains their trilogy: mind, body, and soul. Therefore, our class structure is outlined to follow this structure. Each day will consist of 4.5 hours of training, commencing with 1.5 hours of study (mind), followed by 1.5 hours of movement (body), concluding the day with 1.5 hours of style or choreography (soul).

The HOJ ADP is a four week program, Monday to Friday, 10:15-15:00. During this time you will learn how to master your creative mind, understand your typecast and place within this industry, strengthen your technical foundation, and gain the versatility in the history of jazz movement.

Our program consists of over twenty faculty members, each with an abundance of knowledge and experience ready to share within an intimate classroom setting. Dancers will enjoy learning in a safe yet challenging environment, led by instructors that they can connect to on a professional level.

"Having these be taught by leading industry professionals at such a high standard is an invaluable asset and what makes the programme a cut above anything else available.” - Ben Derham

about Jazz Theatre: the movement

Jazz Theatre is a movement style developed by Christie Lee Manning which uses over 100 years of the distinguished jazz art form and colours it with star power storytelling and performance ability. It pushes new boundaries of jazz by bringing forth the foundation of this historical style and showcasing it in its truest form: to entertain.

Jazz Theatre takes the musical theatre formula and flips it on its head, casting the talents of acting and singing in the supporting roles. This challenges its artists to use the jazz medium to bring each character and story to life, without the use of their voice.

As one of the greatest jazz theatre artists once stated, “The time to sing is when your emotional level is just too high to speak anymore, and the time to dance is when your emotions are just too strong to only sing about how you feel.” - Bob Fosse.

about Jazz House Theatre: the company

Jazz House Theatre is a revolution. It manifested due to the distinct lack of jazz focused theatre companies within our industry, celebrating artists who identify jazz as their home. We find London’s boldest jazz artists and put them where they belong: at the forefront of modern day theatre. We push the boundaries of jazz movement as an art form, bringing forth the foundation of this historical style of dance and showcasing it in its true purpose: to entertain. The result is revolutionary; once experienced, impossible to forget.
